Teamwork.com Summer 2026 updates — Summary + key takeaways:

Summer delivered. A completely refreshed Task Details, a rebuilt Budgets page, formula-driven Custom Items, a customizable Home dashboards page and deeper financial reporting all shipped this season, alongside a long run of automation, integration and quality-of-life upgrades. Read on for what landed. And one thing you can try early.

Task Details gets a glow-up

The new Task Details experience we teased back in June is now live for everyone. Nothing you depend on has moved. What's different is the feel. Cleaner layouts, better spacing and a sharper information hierarchy mean less to process and more to see at a glance.

New Budgets page

The Project Budgets page has been rebuilt to give you the full picture without leaving the page.

Switching between active, upcoming and historical budgets now happens in one place. No hunting around, and tooltips break down the full budget calculation so each number explains itself.

Formula Fields for Custom Items

You can now build formula-based calculated fields on Custom Items like Deals and Contracts. It's one of the most sought-after capabilities from Custom Items users. Now it's here.

Custom Items let you track the work that doesn't fit a standard task, change requests, deliverables, risks, whatever your process needs. Now they can do the arithmetic too. Build a calculation from the fields already on the item, and numbers like cost impact, margin, variance, remaining days or line-item totals update the moment the underlying values change.

No exporting to a spreadsheet. No stale figures pasted into a description field. No one person quietly maintaining the master sheet. Set the formula up once on your Custom Item type and every item of that type inherits it. Your team keeps entering the inputs they already enter, and Teamwork.com handles the math and keeps it current. Cutting the manual entry cuts the errors that come with it.

A brand new Home dashboard

Home now opens on a fully customizable dashboards page built around how you actually work. Multiple dashboard tabs, widget templates and sensible defaults for each role mean you land somewhere useful the moment you sign in.

Project Managers, Ops Managers and staff each get a unique default experience, which can be fully customized to suit how they work.

New Financial Reporting columns

Custom Reports and the Profitability Report both picked up new columns this summer, giving finance leads get more numbers, no export required.

Into Custom Reports come Expense revenue, Effective hourly rate, Invoiced time, Profit target, Profit target %, Cost target and Parent task name.

The Profitability Report adds Revenue (time based) and Billable time $. We also clarified the column popovers, so the calculation behind every figure reads plainly.

Now in early access: email comments

Client collaboration usually comes with friction. Clients don't want to learn a new platform. And you might not want them fully inside Teamwork.com either.

Email comments solve both, and it's now in early access. Connect your own email address and reply to clients right from the comments area of a ticket. No new logins.
