We're always looking for ways to make the work you do in Teamwork.com feel simpler. Over the past year, one theme that has consistently appeared in customer conversations, product research, and your direct feedback? Task Details—one of the most heavily used areas of Teamwork.com—can sometimes feel busy, overwhelming, and maybe even a little cluttered at times.
You told us that finding the information you needed wasn't the biggest challenge—it was everything competing for your attention at once. And when you’re trying to focus on the task at hand, the last thing you want to be worrying about is clutter.
That played into the changes we recently made across the larger UI, and it also is why we're introducing a refreshed Task Details experience designed to make your everyday work feel more focused, more intuitive, and easier to navigate.
Most importantly, these changes are about improving your overall, not changing how you actually work.
So what's changing?
The new Task Details experience focuses on simplifying the visual layout of tasks, improving consistency, and better organizing the interface to cut out unnecessary noise.
)
As these updates roll out in early access, you'll notice cleaner layouts, improved spacing, more consistent interactions, and a clearer hierarchy of information. The ultimate goal is to help you find what you need faster while reducing the cognitive load that can come from working in a feature-heavy environment.
Rest assured, many of the capabilities you rely on today are still exactly where you'd expect them to be. We’re not trying to reinvent the wheel here. We've simply made everything easier to access and easier to understand.
What's not changing
We know change is always intimidating. And while the interface may look different, the core functionality you rely on remains the same. We’re not removing key capabilities or introducing completely new workflows. Instead, we’re making Teamwork.com feel lighter, more focused, and easier to use every day.
Everything we're doing with these updates is guided by a simple principle: helping you focus on the work that matters, while reducing the noise around it.
Fewer layout options = more consistency
To start, one of the biggest updates is the retirement of Stacked View. Rather than maintaining multiple experiences that solve similar problems, we're bringing the best elements of Stacked View into a streamlined set of views:
A distinct Comments View
A distinct Details View
This creates a more consistent experience across Task Details while reducing complexity, making it easier to move seamlessly between views.
That consistency also extends beyond Task Details itself and into Quick View, which is designed to surface the key information you need while allowing you to keep the context within your current workflow. And when more space or additional detail is needed, you can expand seamlessly into the full Task Details experience.
)
With layouts and interactions now more closely aligned between Quick View and the full-width Task Details, moving between the two feels much more natural. The result is a more connected experience that helps maintain key context and makes it easier to focus on the work at hand.
A cleaner, more focused workspace
On top of that, you’ll notice that across the entire Task Details experience, we've refined spacing, alignment, and the visual hierarchy to improve readability and scannability.
Some of the improvements include:
Cleaner alignment throughout the page
Better spacing between sections and content
Improved expand and collapse controls
More consistent layouts across Details View, Comments View, and Quick View
Better handling of long descriptions and lengthy comment threads
)
These updates may seem subtle individually, but together they create a noticeably more relaxed experience (and again, reducing clutter is the name of the game here).
Better organization without losing information
Another common piece of feedback? Task information could feel crowded together and sometimes buried in the UI. To address this, we've reorganized some areas of Task Details to create clearer separation between different types of information.
)
You'll now see:
A dedicated Custom Fields tab
A new Integrations tab
Improved task metadata organization
A new right-hand sidebar in Details View for project and task information
The information is still at your fingertips at all times, but now organized in a simple way that makes it easier to find (and easier to consume).
Improvements for longer tasks
For teams managing complex projects, the actual details of the task can become quite extensive. That’s why we've made several updates specifically designed to improve those experiences, including:
Sticky actions for task descriptions, making editing and copying easier
Improved comment resizing behavior
Smarter sticky comment interactions while scrolling
Better expand and collapse functionality throughout the page
These changes help keep important actions within reach, even when you're working with larger amounts of information.
New time insights in Details View
The Details View now includes an enhanced sidebar that surfaces key project and task information alongside time insights.
This includes clearer visibility into:
Logged time
Estimated time
Parent task rollups
Sub-task rollups
)
The result? Better visibility into effort and progress without needing to navigate away from the task you're actively working on.
Coming soon
The refreshed Task Details experience will be available in Early Access soon, and as it gradually rolls out, we'll continue gathering feedback, testing the experience, and making refinements to ensure we're delivering the best possible version for you.
As always, your feedback continues to shape the future of Teamwork.com, and we're excited for you to try it! Stay tuned for more updates.
