Introducing the new Teamwork Chat UI, designed to keep your teams focused on those all important conversations to reach new levels of productivity.

We’re always thinking about ways to make communication even more effortless for teams. The new Teamwork Chat UI has been designed with that in mind; to give you a better overall experience by providing a cleaner, more modern interface that makes it even easier to communicate with your colleagues. But it’s more than just a new look: we’ve also added some exciting new features and enhancements to bring your team collaboration to the next level. (TL;DR: You’ll still get the same features and functionality you know and love — but with a few improvements.)

We had two goals when undertaking the redesign of Teamwork Chat: to better align with the other four products in the Teamwork suite, and to improve the overall usability for the customers. We also wanted to give Teamwork Chat a lighter look and feel overall. The new UI has now been rolled out across all devices: web, desktop, Android, and iOS. Try it for yourself and let us know what you think!

We’ve also added some new features and enhancements to make your work-day a bit easier – check them out below.

For times when you need to remove all distractions and focus on the task at hand, you can now set yourself  to Do Not Disturb. Do Not Disturb mutes all push, email and desktop notifications so you’re not interrupted when you need to do some deep thinking. It also adds a DND badge to your avatar to let your team know when you’re unavailable and don’t want to be disturbed. It allows you to have more control over when you need to get work done and when you’re available for the team.

Now you can star channels or direct messages to bookmark your favorite chats for quick and easy access. Simply click the star icon next to the channel or person’s name to add it to you starred area. Instead of using the search bar, now you can quickly access your most used conversations or channels. Learn more about Starred Conversations and Channels in our help doc.

Customize your channel avatars to make them stand out from the crowd. When you’re creating a channel, all you need to do is use the channel avatar picker to select both the color and icon you want to represent your channel. Learn more about customizable channel avatars in our help doc.

You can now jump to the last message you read in a channel so you can quickly pick up where you left off. By clicking on the blue banner that says “Jump to the last seen message (X unread)”, you will be brought back to the last message you read in the channel.

Filter out the noise with personalized notification settings for the channels you’re part of. You can now create custom notifications for specific channels from one place instead of setting your preferences in each individual channel. This way, you can keep track of your notifications from one central hub and make sure not to miss any important messages.

Customize how cards, images, URLs and files appear in your conversation threads by updating your message preferences. If you don’t want to get distracted by images or URL previews, you can now hide these previews so there’s less scrolling and you can focus on the important stuff. You can now toggle message previews on or off for Teamwork cards, images, files, and URLs, as well as the movie quotes that appear in your chat field.

You can now launch Teamwork Chat directly from your desktop with our new Linux desktop app, making it quicker and easier to get up and running on startup. Download the Teamwork Chat for Linux desktop app here.   If you need a hand with any of the new features listed above or have any feedback on the refreshed UI, please send us an email at chat@teamwork.com — we’d love to hear from you! Don’t forget we also have a full Help Docs site to support you 24/7.   Don’t forget, Teamwork Chat is 100% free to use. If you already have a Teamwork Projects, Desk, Spaces or CRM site you can enable Teamwork Chat from the integrations or apps settings of your site.
