Slack is undoubtedly one of our most popular integrations to date. With that in mind, we’ve implemented some of your suggestions to improve your experience using Slack with Teamwork and we think Version 2 of this integration will be a game-changer.

Let’s recap!

This handy integration enables you to create tasks in Teamwork from messages you receive via Slack and receive real-time notifications on your tasks in a dedicated Slack channel.

You can integrate Slack with Teamwork by installing the Teamwork app within Slack. Need a hand? Check out our guidehere.

What’s new in the Slack integration?

Once you’ve installed the Teamwork app in Slack, you’ll have access to the newest features such as Project Channels and Slash Commands for Teamwork.

Slash Commands

Slash commands are a feature that avid users of the platform may already be familiar with. It allows you to create shortcuts quickly and easily. If you enter a forward slash ( / ) in Slack, you’ll see a list of built-in options, some of which are Teamwork commands!!

Here’s a guide on how to use this feature:

  • /tw task [Task Name] - Displays the ‘Create Task’ modal so you can action a task.

  • /tw link [url] - Displays the ‘Create Link’ modal so you can add a URL to in Teamwork.

  • /tw settings - Shows the ‘Settings' modal.

  • /tw help - Provides Help prompts from the app.

  • /tw project - Allows you to create a project channel in Slack for your Teamwork projects.

Project Channels

This brings us to our second new feature, Project Channels.

We’ve received a lot of requests for this new feature and we’re thrilled to finally unveil it! Project Channels bridges your team’s Slack channel with your Teamwork projects so teams can benefit from real-time updates directly on your Slack channel. This also allows your team toorganize your projects in the best way possible. With this feature, you can respond to new tasks within seconds of receiving them via Slack, allowing you to focus on getting the job done.

Enhanced task capabilities

To top it all off, we’ve enhanced our task functionality so you can add that extra level of detail. Want to assign a task to a team member or add a due date? Simply add the shortcuts to the task’s name field.

Here’s a list of fields you can add using shortcuts:

  • Assignee - @holly

  • Start date - [Today]

  • Due date - [Tomorrow]

  • Priority - !!!

  • Tags - #design

  • Estimated time - [1hr]

Make the most of our latest Slack updates

For example, let’s assume you work at a design agency and Slack is your go-to app for daily internal team communication... But your team also uses Teamwork to manage your tasks and workflow processes with various clients.

Once you’ve integrated Slack with Teamwork, changes made to each project will appear as notifications in the right Slack channels, allowing you to keep track of your projects efficiently.

This tool does more than just alert you of changes. It also enables you to provide feedback and your plan for next steps. If someone from your team hands a design over for approval, you’ll get a notification via Slack, and your team can provide feedback without leaving Slack at all. Using both Teamwork and Slack together has never been easier.

And with the power of Slash commands, you can take action on new tasks or work off previous tasks without ever leaving Slack. With these tools working together beautifully, we’re putting time back in your hands.
