💡 Key insight

Most teams switching from Monday.com to Teamwork.com cite time tracking and budget management as the deciding factors. Monday.com requires paid add-ons for billable time tracking; Teamwork.com includes timesheets, billable rates, and budget tracking natively on all plans. Test both with a 2-week client project that requires time-to-budget reporting.

Teamwork.com is the best task and project management system that I have used in my entire career. I have used and tested other systems over the years, and no one comes close to Teamwork.com and the vast array of functionality it has. As the years have progressed, I have changed roles and departments many times, and each time, Teamwork.com came with me and was able to help me stay organized and efficient with all my tasks and duties.

“It’s a lot easier to pick up and navigate Teamwork.com.”

Norwegian Cruise Line's Event Manager, Brian Hicks, shares two reasons why his team switched from Monday.com to Teamwork.com.

Transcript for the video 'Brian Hicks':

While there's a lot of pretty, and there are some really great things about Monday dot com until I started to really get under the hood. We have a lot of recurring tasks There's a lot of the same thing that happens. You know, when I brought up that question on Monday dot com, I sort of got laughed at a little bit. It was like, oh, no. Well, you can just do this, this, this, and this, and from a technical standpoint, that's really difficult for new users. The other component that was a little bit of a breaking point was setting up templates. It was just not very intuitive. You're really just doing a copy and paste. In order for me to do relative dates, I have to set dependencies across all tasks to a task that is not needed just to adjust the dates whenever that template is used. Whenever I'm working in teamwork, It's not a copy and paste. It it is a template. It's set up so I can choose who is handling a task for this particular item. I can choose dates. I can easily adjust things. Project management platforms are not easy for people to just kinda pick up and go with. It's a lot easier. To pick up and navigate in work projects, then it might be monday dot com.

Frequently Asked Questions: Monday.com vs Teamwork.com

Which is better for agencies: Monday.com or Teamwork.com?

Teamwork.com is better for agencies that bill clients by the hour and need time tracking, financial budgets, and profitability reporting. Teamwork.com includes native timesheets with billable/cost rates, budget tracking, and unlimited client users on all paid plans starting at $10.99/user/month. Monday.com is better for agencies coordinating internal workflows with visual boards and automation; Monday.com's Basic plan ($13/user/month) offers customizable boards but no time budgets or billable rates. Test both with a 2-week client project requiring time-to-budget reporting.

Does Monday.com have time tracking like Teamwork.com?

No. Monday.com offers basic time tracking as a paid add-on (Time Tracking column); it tracks hours per task but does not support billable/cost rates, timesheets, or time budgets. Teamwork.com includes native time tracking on all paid plans (starting at $10.99/user/month) with timesheets, billable/cost rates, time budgets, and integration with invoicing. If you bill clients by the hour or need time-to-budget reporting, Teamwork.com's time tracking is more comprehensive; if you need only basic time logging, Monday.com's add-on may suffice.

Can I add clients to Monday.com or Teamwork.com for free?

Teamwork.com allows unlimited client and guest users for free on all paid plans; clients access assigned projects without counting toward your seat limit. Monday.com offers free viewers (read-only access) but charges for guest users who need to edit or update items; guest pricing varies by plan. If you manage 5+ clients and want them to collaborate on projects directly, Teamwork.com's unlimited guest users reduce per-seat costs; if clients need only read-only access, Monday.com's free viewers may work

Which has better resource planning: Monday.com or Teamwork.com?

Teamwork.com offers more comprehensive resource planning with capacity planning (short-term), resource forecasting (long-term), and utilization tracking (billable vs non-billable). Teamwork.com's Grow plan ($19.99/user/month) includes all three; you can forecast resource needs months or quarters ahead and track utilization targets. Monday.com offers workload views for short-term capacity on the Standard plan ($17/user/month) but does not support long-term forecasting or utilization reporting. If you plan resources beyond 2-4 weeks or track billable utilization, Teamwork.com's resource features are more robust.

Can I migrate from Monday.com to Teamwork.com easily?

Yes. Teamwork.com's Monday.com importer transfers boards, items, subitems, updates, and files in 15-30 minutes for a typical 10-board workspace. The importer does not transfer time tracking data, automations, or dashboard widgets; you'll need to rebuild these in Teamwork.com. Before migrating, export a backup from Monday.com, map your board columns to Teamwork.com custom fields, and run a test import with 1-2 boards to verify data integrity.
