The opportunity

Reporting directly into the Head of Engineering and Product Delivery, the Head of IT and Security will own and manage Teamwork.com’s Internal Infrastructure and IT needs as well as all aspects of our Security and Cyber Security requirements. 

We are looking for a Head of IT and Security who will be responsible for overseeing the entire IT infrastructure of Teamwork.com and ensuring robust security and cybersecurity measures across our SaaS platform. This role demands a deep understanding of IT systems, cybersecurity, and the ability to develop and implement comprehensive security strategies. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in IT management and cybersecurity in a global SaaS company.

What good looks like

  • 8+ years in a software and infrastructure security operations role, or 8+ years in IT with 5+ years in a cybersecurity management role
  • One or more of the following qualifications; Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information systems Auditor (CISA), or MSc in Information Security.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud computing, network architecture, and IT best practices.
  • Proven experience in managing IT infrastructure and security teams.
  • Knowledge in innovative threat detection technologies, application security technologies, and analytics tool sets
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive cybersecurity operations strategy aligned with company objectives
  • Identify trends in machine learning, heuristics, and big data for security incident and event management
  • Proven ability to build trust and manage relationships with the C-level leadership of saleups and other key influencers in a startup/scaleup environment. 
  • Experience in developing incident response playbooks/processes and ensuring they’re tested and formalised with different stakeholder audiences.
  • Knowledge of compliance & regulatory frameworks – ISO 27001,SOC2, PCI DSS, GDPR, etc.
  • Experience with cloud-based environments (preferably AWS) and their native security products/services, particularly focused around monitoring, detection & response.
  • Log correlation and analysis, including chain of custody and forensics investigations/requirements.
  • High level experience in AI/ML fundamentals
  • Comprehension of machine learning algorithms, neural networks, and other advanced AI techniques to help you engage in meaningful dialogues with technical teams, understand challenges, and make informed decisions.
  • Have a passion for identifying opportunities to introduce automation and orchestration of systems & operational playbooks. Focused on enabling more efficient discovery of security events and response/action.
  • You're a self-motivated team player who demonstrates initiative and flexibility with strong organisational skills and the ability to handle and prioritise multiple tasks.
  • You're friendly with the right attitude: you're smart, you get things done, and you can work with others and communicate well.

What you can expect


  • Leading and managing a distributed IT team including hiring, training, and mentoring team members.
  • Managing the IT budget, making cost-effective decisions regarding IT investments, and ensuring a good return on investment for technology-related expenditures across the business.
  • Overseeing various IT projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and budget. This includes managing project timelines, resources, risks and change management.
  • Oversee the procurement, setup, and distribution of  hardware new staff, ensuring a smooth onboarding experience.
  • Managing relationships with software and hardware vendors, negotiating contracts, and ensuring that the services and products provided by them meet the company’s quality and performance standards.
  • Manage hardware and software inventory, ensuring all equipment is up-to-date, secure.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance across all internal systems and customer facing products: Confirming that the policies and procedures designed ensure robust compliance and measures to protect systems and data in adherence to regulations & standards like ISO27001,SOC2, Cyber Essentials, GDPR and any other industry-driven standards.
  • Develop and implement strategic IT , compliance and security plans that align with the company's objectives.
  • Manage the IT infrastructure to ensure seamless operations and service delivery.
  • Enforce stringent cybersecurity protocols to safeguard company and client data against cyber threats.
  • Keep abreast of emerging cybersecurity trends and technologies, updating strategies as necessary.
  • Coordinate cross-departmentally to integrate security practices into business operations.
  • Conduct security audits, risk assessments, and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
  • Formulate and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  • Facilitate training sessions for staff on cybersecurity best practices and efficient use of IT resources.
  • Lead discovery, response, containment, and remediation of cybersecurity incidents
  • Discover new opportunities to optimise the business through analytics, AI/ML and use case prioritisation
  • Have a passion for identifying opportunities to introduce automation and orchestration of systems & operational playbooks. Focused on enabling more efficient discovery of security events and response/action.
