Optimize team resources with the new Float and Teamwork Projects integration

For most, it’s been overwhelmingly positive and helped kickstart their Teamwork Projects resource scheduling in Float. However, it became clear that for some users, specifically those with large volumes of Teamwork subtasks, the changes made to subtask structure were unexpected at best (and, in some cases, destructive to their workflow). For that, we’re very sorry. One of our primary goals is to save team’s time, and for those teams, in particular, we failed in that respect. Today’s integration now ensures there are no changes made to your Teamwork account on connection with Float. Glenn Rogers – CEO Get a visual representation of your team’s day-to-day workload using the new Float and Teamwork Projects integration, so you can manage resources effectively and allocate work evenly. With a calendar view of who’s working on which tasks, and how long they’re going to take, you get a bird’s eye view of your team’s workload. Effectively managing your team’s workload can be like mastering a fine art. As projects develop and your team’s workload increases, it becomes more and more difficult to find a healthy balance between the amount of work that needs to be delivered and the amount of work every team member needs to do. If the balance is off and the work is unevenly allocated, it can lead to reduced productivity, low team morale or even employee burnout. This new integration helps you to combat this by giving you a visual overview of all work assigned to your team in Teamwork Projects directly from the Float resource management calendar view. It allows users to import people and projects from Teamwork Projects and sync tasks, projects, and people updates into Float. With a real-time sync, updates to allocated work — including the assignee, estimated hours and date ranges — are reflected instantly in Teamwork Projects, so there’s no delay in optimizing your team’s schedule.
How team leads and managers can use this integration
This integration is great if you’re a team lead or manager who needs a visual representation of your team’s workload. It lets you easily see who is maxed out and who has the capacity to take on more work. The one-way sync will take your existing people, projects, milestones, and tasks from Teamwork Projects and populate them in Float. Once they’re imported, you can filter out any people or projects you don’t want to appear in your schedule view from the People or Projects tab in Float. Changes you make in Teamwork Projects will sync in Float but changes made in Float won’t sync back to Teamwork Projects. If you then go to the Schedule tab, you’ll see your calendar view with a list of your people or projects, depending on how you have filtered it. Now to get scheduling! In Float, simply click on the Add + button or click on the day you’d like to kick off the task, select the project, add the task you’d like to assign, and select the person you’d like to assign the task to. You can add an estimated time for the task as well as a start and end date. Once you hit Update, this task is now scheduled. The two-way sync will import your people from Teamwork Projects so you can start scheduling their work in Float. When you create new projects, milestones, and tasks in Float, these will then sync to Teamwork Projects where scheduled tasks will appear as sub-tasks. So now you can schedule your team’s work in Float and it will sync back to Teamwork Projects ready to be worked on. When you’re allocating work from Teamwork Projects on your projects synced from Float, you simply need to assign subtasks for them to appear in the Float calendar view.
As your team completes tasks, in either Teamwork Projects or Float, this then updates automatically in both apps, meaning you get the most up-to-date view of how your work is progressing. Some team leads even like to schedule their team’s workload for the week and display the calendar view in the office so that everyone can get a real-time update of what the team is working on.
